About the Workforce Development Board

The Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, Inc. operates the region’s Career Centers, required under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA).

The Career Centers are designed to provide individuals with access to employment, education and training services from different programs and providers at a single location.

Under WIA, the local Workforce Board oversees the Career Centers and decides how to address the needs of workers and businesses in specific workforce areas.

About SWFL Works

The Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, Inc. is a partnership between business, labor, education, community, and government services.

The Board oversees workforce development initiatives in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, and Lee Counties.

With membership from business and community leaders, the Board is well positioned to keep pace with a Region that includes very diverse workforce needs.

Commitment

The Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, Inc. acknowledges businesses as vital customers and stakeholders for workforce and economic development within Southwest Florida.

One example of our commitment to business is the creation of a Business Services Center within each Career Center. The Business Services Center is designed to assist you with a variety of business specific services.
